4 September 2019

The best tried horse syndicator (SJ Racing) in the business presents for your consideration. TOSEN DREAMER.

It is very hard to find a middle-distance staying type of horse, let alone a 3-year-old filly.

This impeccably bred Filly has 4 placings from only 6 starts and has never been beaten more than 3 lengths which suggests that this filly is a perfect acquisition for the northern Rivers and Sth East Qld.

The Northern rivers have a great range of races for Tosen Dreamer and warranted form would have her travelling to Brisbane.

With the form already displayed she will have no trouble breaking her maiden and then a class 1 at the very least.

With the improvement our methods bring we expect her to blossom and reach her full potential that a yearling at this price is purchased to achieve.

Tosen Dreamer comes from a very large operation, and we believe the less stress that is placed on horses by being in a more caring environment with less pressure will be the key to this filly.

This horse will be racing within the month and will be stabled at Grafton under the care of Samantha McGuren with husband leading Jockey Matty McGuren and Tony Newing also hands on with this girl.

This is a very rare opportunity to purchase a staying type for a very small outlay.

TONY NEWING - GRAFTON

Even as a schoolboy, there was a pretty fair chance Tony Newing was going to be permanently involved in the horse racing industry. When you are prepared to “jump the fence” to go to a trainer’s stables after school, then racing must be in your blood.

Born in Roma Queensland, Tony left school at 15 to chase his dream. In 1999 he moved to Sydney and spent a few months working with Hawkesbury trainer Garry White, who at the time was a private trainer for Hobartville Stud.

He then moved to Muskoka Farm and spent “about three years” there. Then an opportunity arose to work with well-respected Sydney veterinary surgeon and Nature Vet founder Gerry Rose who owned a stud farm at Somersby. Unfortunately, Gerry died soon after, so Tony decided to branch out and then leased a block of 8 stables at Gosford.

Tony has pounded away at Gosford and has won and been runner up in their premiership but has now decided that the future in his desired area is GRAFTON.  As Tony puts it 'Grafton is ideally located as you can reach numerous Country tracks in NSW as well as Southeast Qld and is a short ride up the road to Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.  There are more races available in Sydney for me if I train at Grafton and it will be the go-to place to train a horse over the next couple of decades for sure'.

TONY'S achievements

Tony has had amazing success in purchasing quality, budget yearlings and producing first class results from them. Tony’s most productive horse to date has been an $8,000 Magic Millions purchase called Timeless Prince. Timeless Prince had over 70 starts, collected $550,000 in prize money/bonuses, and won the Listed Sunshine Coast Cup, Scone Country Cup and the Tamworth Cup.

On behalf of SJ Racing, Tony selected King Lear from the Scone yearling sales for $10,000. King Lear went on to win over $170,000 in Prize Money winning 7 from 17 starts with 4 placings including a metropolitan win at Eagle Farm Qld.

Tony also selected Charmed Princess at the Magic Millions for $32,000 and to date has returned $160,000. Charmed Princess has won 6 races including the 2019 Grafton Guineas.

Tony has also had success with.

  • Camp Rifle 167k
  • Alpha Go 138k and current.
  • Single Touch 63k and Current.

Tony also selects suitable horses for SJ Racing to travel to North Queensland where every horse he has sent there have won races with the most notables being Focus 100k+, Coolmeans and Tainted Affair just to name a few.

Tony’s  operation is a real family affair with his wife Stacey being 'full-time' and his greatest asset. Their 2 boys Richard and Angus also show a keen interest in the horses and regularly go to the stables.

Tony’s ability to acquire budget priced horses and get results with them through his "I don’t mind how far I have to travel to get a win" mind set is why SJ Racing has formed a partnership with this up and coming Trainer.
